The Internet Writer's Address Book for Children's Publishers

Children's publishers range in genre so much that I considered making sub-divisions! Some only publish picture books, others dive into young adult non-fiction or teacher's resources.

Before approaching any of these publishers with a manuscript, I would suggest visiting their web site. There are many people who profess to be "children's writers" and the industry has taken steps to eliminate receiving page after page of unsolicited manuscripts. Some of the publishers listed will only take manuscripts from an agent or a previously published author. Do your homework first and you should be fine!

In addition, many children's publishers are subsidiaries of larger publishing companies. Therefore, contacts within a publishing house which has a children's department are a good thing to have!
